At the field level, the “Sustainable Empowerment” project funded by the European Union translates this trend into practical initiatives in the governorates, through initiatives that respond to local environmental needs and support the participation of communities in confronting them. In Fayoum, efforts include initiatives to clean and disinfect canals, raise awareness about preventing pollution, and encourage waste sorting at the source, in addition to providing tools and containers for home collection. In Beni Suef, initiatives range from preparing young people for environmental awareness, implementing afforestation campaigns, training association staff on green practices, as well as supporting the use of agricultural waste and the production of organic fertilizer to reduce open burning.

Environmental protection does not start from major decisions only, but from local community-led initiatives, and their effects expand when efforts are integrated and continued.
